Some adverse comments
on Super singer junior collected from various websites.
Mukilan Jeyaraj in facebook:
The idea of having this Chinese or Japanese or whatever concept it is, is absolutely absurd. It is like belittling the stature of legends like chithra and shubha and Mano. It is pathetic to look at them wearing sad excuses for kimonos.
Super singer is supposed to be a major event. Watching its standards go down the drain is just disheartening.
Sunitha Batchu in facebook:
As a person with several Asian friends, who is consequently exposed to Asian culture, watching this episode was horrible. Absolutely, totally, and completely horrendous. Some things the show called 'Chinese' was offensive and belittling. I can't believe that the writers and anchors of the show acted in such a racist fashion especially because they have a public reputation to keep up. I am so bothered by this because, ultimately, the whole ordeal is corrupting the kids. How are we expected to raise globally aware and accepting citizens of the world if the are exposed to offensive stereotypes? Do you think the children have a view of Chinese culture with the same amount of respect they have for Indian culture? No, they don't. How do you think they will react when they meet real Chinese people in the future? They will have a tainted view of their culture. The one thing that irked me the most on the show was the meaningless gibberish the people on the show were speaking in while trying to imitate the Chinese language. They are stripping such a beautiful language of respect there. In the end, I am saddened that the whole show was so hypocritical. Many Indians are subject to racist stereotypes and I am ashamed to see them reciprocating them. If only the writers of the show put in a little effort, research and Google searches into the preparation for the show, they could have created an episode that embraced the Chinese culture with humor and fun instead of sullying it.

One more blog against the reality shows which are getting increasingly popular with Indian TV channels....
i can forgive all including candid cameras... but playing with kids and their feelings....
Few points the parents should think about and understand:
Children (till 12) are in the phase of (still) trying to understand the world, the competitive nature of it and getting used to it.
their feelings are very immature and they do not know how to react on different situations...
Success and failure in their world may not be like what we (adults) see it.
children should not be treated like playing toys.
If you are a tamilian and watch TV, then you should have got; I am talking about Super singer Junior on Vijay TV (http://vijay.indya.com/specials/jss/index.html).
What I've seen worse in the program:
Showing the child crying on failure to proceed to next round
Demanding the judges to select him/her for the next round
Bringing all the so-called wait listed candidates to stage and choosing the best singer out of them
Even worse when the results are announced, focussing the children's face with mixed reactions...
What happens:
No child will like it to be seen by mass of ppl (millions as the channel claims) as shamefully crying. This creates a kind of inferior complex among others in the class rooms.
these form reason for treating/abusing a child badly by immature fellow kids and worse.. immature parents.
A gentle request to the TV channel: At least don't show the reactions of the kids, repeatedly. Please note, these are not your serial actors for god sake... these are the real reactions of the kids.
